Discussing a plan to tackle inequalities and make Novi Pazar schools attractive for all children
From 20 to 22 March 2024 the Inclusion4Schools team organized a meeting with the local communities and experts from the town of Novi Pazar, Bulgaria, to develop a long-term plan for overcoming inequalities and making the schools in Novi Pazar a centre of attraction for all children and teenagers in the town. It was attended by representatives of the schools – principals, teachers, educational mediators and social institutions working with disadvantaged children, youth and their parents.
After an analysis of the situation, strengths and weaknesses, concrete steps were identified for cooperation between educational and social institutions to involve parents and create a favorable educational environment for all.
The meeting was followed by two open lessons, the themes of which emerged in the process. The first topic was Education in a multicultural environment – how to manage stereotypes so that they do not turn into prejudice and hence the development of ethnocentrism in school, then we continued with the role of parents, family and community in the educational process in school.
