Online Think Tank workshop

An online Think Tank workshop will be held on 20 June, 2022. The event will be organised by the John Wesley Theological College and the Oltalom Charity Society, Hungarian partners of the Inclusion4Schools project. We are expecting academic participants from five countries.

At the online think tanks, we are planning to engage in a lively discussion on the issues of data collection and data provision within the context of educational inequalities in an international context. Participating country experts will share their views and knowledge about data collection methods and data provision in terms of researching segregation and other forms of inequalities in education. Together, based on the exchange of experiences and ideas, we will try to formulate certain recommendations for the standardization and improvement of data collection and data provision methods across Europe.

Topics:

  • Family and non-family factors influencing how school advantage and disadvantage are assessed in some countries as part of the administrative data provision. Please discuss how thorough, how complete and how adequate the tools and scales are in your country.
  • Available data on schools taking advantage of legal possibilities and circumventing legal prohibitions in order to segregate disadvantaged students.
  • Access to census data, school statistics by school, municipal administrative data on disadvantaged students, regular, publicly funded surveys.
  • Possible European standardization of data provision.
