Community building event in Rakitovo, Bulgaria

On November 18 and 19, 2022 school-community workshops were held in Velingrad with representatives of the teaching staff and parents of  elementary school “Kliment Ohridski”, Rakitovo municipality. In the initiative, which is part of the Project “Inlcusion4Schools” implemented in Bulgaria by the C.E.G.A. Foundation, the deputy mayor for humanitarian activities and the director of education, representatives of the kindergarten, social services, Bureau of Labor, the Future Foundation, which has been working for more than 20 years for the development of the Roma community in the town.

An analysis of the educational environment in Rakitovo was made. Based on the analysis, after a discussion, the main directions to work on in the coming years were identified, so that the school to become a center of the community, for the sake of the good education of the children. At the end the participants agreed on several short- and medium-term measures, as first steps in the joint work between the school, local institutions and the community.
