News on the first Open School Class in Albania

In the frame of Inclusion4Schools Project, community events are planned to be implemented in all the consortium countries. The community events aim at identifying local actors, strengthening and maximizing the local synergies and efforts to support quality education and inclusive approaches for the partner schools selected to be part of I4S activities. Our partner schools were identified on the basis of their disadvantaged situation in terms of pupils’ composition, lack of resources and poor economic localities.

Considering that the education process is not a stand-alone island, we support community involvement in identifying and solving problems. Open School Classes are a form of community learning processes, that encourage enhanced knowledge, and building communities around the education processes.

Our first Open School Class will kick off in Albania on the 23d of February in the small town of Peqin in central Albania. The issue of access in healthcare and preventative measures that could be taken for children welfare, will gather different local stakeholders like; local government representatives, school representatives, parents, local education office, civil society, healthcare representatives and other active members of the community. The aim of this event will be to foster local coordination and provide for a solid basis to initiate a permanent local structure to address educational issues.

Inclusion4Schools plans to implement at least 25 Open School Classes in all four consortium countries. Each Open School will have at least 3 subsequent events for the same chosen locality. Other community building activities are also to planned to mobilize local initiatives throughout the project.
